Finance.yahoo.com or Finance.google.com?
Recently I’ve invested more time playing on Google’s new offering of financial news and quotes. Seemingly, Google has been overtaking and outperforming various sectors of online services. For example, I am a proud new user of their browser Google Chrome.
This morning while watching CNBC and following my investments online, I decided to give Google another spin. Oddly enough, their quote for the Dow Jones Industrial Average was different from CNBC and Yahoo. Shortly after noticing this oddity, a pattern formed. Google had the most recent quote available first with CNBC shortly behind and Yahoo averaging about 45 seconds behind.
However, overall I still like Yahoo’s ease of use. Their analytical tools for graphs are more in depth. Also the page itself is easier to browse. I am able to find what I am looking for immediately. On Google I find myself hunting for news, quotes, earnings, and other research tools.
Google’s offering of free real-time quotes is a great foundation for their beta research site. The fact that they are leading Yahoo and even cable television for the most updated quote is fascinating. I am excited to see what they will be offering.
